HISTORY

The History of MCT Metalúrgica Central da Trofa starts in 1960 located in the

traditional manufacturing area of Trofa in the north of Portugal.

Nowadays, MCT strives to gain international importance and continue its growth

by exporting to new markets.

 

THE PRODUCTION

The materials we can supply are CB752S (CB770S), CB755S (CB757S), CB753S, CB754S,

Low lead or Lead Free. Others may also be possible upon request.

The production cycle consists essentially on the following stages.

Project and construction of the tooling (casting dies, sand core box, machining tools,

gauges).

Manufacturing of the sand cores.

Casting of the brass components by means of gravity and low pressure die casting.

Removing of any sand residues from the cast bodies by means of a shot peening machine

which uses metallic spheres at high speed.

Trimming of the brass feeding material such as feeder heads or risers followed by the

superficial cleaning and, for some components, the hydraulic sealing test.

Mechanical machining using modern automation technology and highly skilled

collaborators.

Surface treatment: polishing and chrome plating.

MCT is a supplier in the field of Brass die-casting and machining. The company’s

core business is the manufacturing of brass components by means of the gravity and

also low pressure die casting process as subcontractors for original equipment

manufacturers throughout Europe. This process is particularly suitable for the

production of taps and other bathroom fittings, cases for water meters, pumps and

valves, beer dispensing equipment, household ornamental, classical bathtub or

stove feet, irrigation sprinklers, fire protection parts and more.
