Lua Cheia is a result of the passion to display the individuality and character that the creators of this project, have with the Douro region for more than two decades. Lua Cheia wants to show the world what is best produced in Portugal. The passion for the wines began in the Douro, but was divided later by other regions.
The company's history began in 2009 with the production of white wines from Murça - Douro, an area forgotten by progress, but that produces unique wines with full identity, like Secretum and Andreza Códega do Larinho.
In 2010, work began on an investment in a winery in Martim, Douro, and two years later, in the cradle of Alvarinho, Monção/Melgaço sub-region, investment was made in another winery and Quintas, Carvalheira and Barqueira, as well as a partnership in Barcelos where grapes like Loureiro and Sauvignon Blanc were planted. Brands like Maria Bonita and Maria Papoila were born there.
In 2013, another partnership was started in Alentejo, vinifying, in third party facilities, the grapes chosen and acquired in the region of Estremoz. Album is the ex-libris in this region.
In 2014 Quinta do Bronze was acquired, in Vale Mendiz in the heart of Pinhão region where some of Lua Cheia's best Douro wines come from, and where, in a near future, exclusive Porto wines will be produced.
In 2017, Lua Cheia has extended its presence into other Portuguese wine region – Dão, producing the red wine Insurgente.
