Castelbel is a Portuguese manufacturer of high quality bath, body and home scented products. Carefully hand crafted according to traditional methods, Castelbel products combine a stylish design with a wide range of exclusive fragrances.

The name Castelbel derives from the combination of the name of the small town where the company is located (“Castêlo da Maia”) and the Portuguese word for beauty (“beleza”).

Since its start in 1999, Castelbel has experienced an ongoing and sustainable development, growing from 9 to 170 workers in late 2017. Its highly skilled team, including experienced chemists, chemical engineers and designers, has allowed the company to expand its product assortment and global market share.

In 2005, while already being a world-renowned manufacturer of premium soaps for other labels, the company filed for the trademarks Castelbel and Portus Cale (the latter being the original name of Portugal and the old name of an ancient town and port that gave origin to todays’ Greater Porto Area).

These two trademarks currently identify a series of products besides aromatic soaps, including body care and home fragrance (candles, room sprays, reed diffusers, fragrant sachets and drawer liners).

Castelbel has expanded its position in external markets since the foundation of the company, with about 80% of its annual turnover currently coming from exports. It should come as no surprise that the company is present in over 1,000 points of sale in approximately 50 countries in all continents.

Over the years, the company’s performance has been highlighted by several national official entities, that have recognised it as a top exporter (Top Exporta 2012, Top Exporta 2013, Top Exporta 2015) and as an Excellence SME (PME Excelência in 2012, 2013, 2014 & 2015).

As a result of Castelbel’s commitment to quality and continuous improvement, it is certified by SGS according to two different international norms: Quality Management System (ISO 9001) and Good Manufacturing Practices of cosmetic products (ISO 22716).
