Our history

Norfilme Indústria Gráfica, S.A., founded in 2005, is a limited liability company, based at Rua Comendador Arlindo Soares de Pinho, Nº 78, in Vale de Cambra, Portugal. Its object of activity is the printing / manufacturing of labels, wrap around (coil) and cut & stack in BOPP and self-adhesive. Our capital stock amounts €400,000.00; our main economic activity code is 18120.

Key strenghts

Norfilme has been playing for over 11 years in the highly specialised field of graphic arts / labelling of products, with demanding requirements on form, design and functionality, such as labels in beverages – e.g. labels in BOPP film for waters and soft drinks.

Deliberatly focused on the external market, c.65% of Norfilme’s sales are exports (mainly to Spain, Angola and Cape Verde) (Espanha, Angola e Cabo Verde).

The company is certified under international standards such ISO 9001, 14001 e 18001, providing its clients with a further guarantee of value-added products, based on quality and reliability.

Current technology

Norfilme is a technology-intensive firm, uniquely positioned in the national flexography competitive landscape. The firm has the only Comco Proglide US-made machine in Portugal. This equipment is particularly geared toward BOPP film printing, in wrap around (coil of continuous labels), cut & stack (pre-cut) and mould label. For coil of labels, Norfilme owns a Stanford Accraply US-made longitudinal cut equipment. For individual labels, the firm uses a guillotine with a high-precision scale, made by the German company Heidelberg.

Looking forward

Norfilme’s goal is to increase its exports, whilst building on and enhancing its current production technology. Specifically, the company aims at increasing its responsiveness in the segments where it currently plays, and at being competitive in more demanding segments, such as 12 colours labels (premium end of the market).

By acquiring state of the art equipment, Norfilme will be able to develop 2 new products:

• Embossed labels (stamping and screen printing) for expanding sectors such as wine and cheese
• Multilayer labels – a device that allows for the opening of the self-adhesive materials, enabling the print on both sides of the adhesive. These labels are particular sought in the cosmetics, pharma and detergents sectors
• Self-adhesive film “wash-off” - easily peeled off and recycled, these labels can be removed without leaving behind traces of glue. Targeting a “no-label look”, these labels are much utilised in reusable bottles (e.g. water, beer).
