STORK – stone & cork // cladding and flooring lightweight and multifunctional patented solution of low environmental impact: increases in one product both aesthetical and technical characteristics of 2 natural highly valued materials – stone and cork.
Stork present the following advantages, comparatively to the available traditional solutions (above all the ones that use honeycomb):
- Mechanical performance // STORK solution is the only which shows an improved mechanical behaviour through bending recovery after subjected to an increased load. This elastic behaviour allow to eliminate the appearance of fissures and slows down the great majority of stone ageing processes.
- Thermal performance // STORK is the only cladding and flooring product with natural stone that do not present any sign of ageing after 10 million load cycles (loads 2 times higher than service loads dimensioned for less favourable installation conditions); this result is homogeneous for temperatures between -20C to 75C.
- Vibrational and acoustic performance// this advantage is critical for cladding and flooring because it promotes insulation form external sources and also between floors according to new construction regulations.
- Thermal insulation // STORK solution bring relevant cost reduction regarding thermal insulation materials expenses because it presents a lower thermal transmission coefficient (U) comparatively to the one of the traditional cladding solution with honeycomb system.
Sustainability // STORK has agglomerated cork and natural stone. The first material is produced from the cork waste and both materials have a low carbon footprint leading to significant environmental impact reduction. Some of the STORK solutions are also being produced with 100% natural resins and 100% natural fibres.
For cladding external applications, STORK minimum thickness is 16 mm. However, for internal walls thickness may be reduced up to 100 mm even for large formats (2x3 m2).
