Godwit is a Portuguese company that reawakens the decreasing rich and secular handmade arts in Portugal, mainly the embroidery tradition. Blending these traditional arts with stylish and high-quality fabrics and a unique and contemporary design, Godwit creates exclusive products for interior decoration.
Godwit works within two business areas:
• Godwit´s Creations - own design, made-to-order pieces, available to order from the website.
• Godwit’s Custom Creations - personalised one to one service, totally made-to-measure, to assist customers in achieving exclusive pieces for various atmospheres, with Godwit’s or Customer's own design.
The diverse handmade techniques, associated with the different Portuguese regions, and the skills of our artisans allows diversity and richness and the opportunity to create unique pieces, either to private or to corporate customers.
All our artisans are certified by the competent regional certification bodies and Godwit is always adding textile techniques to its portfolio in order to increase the range of options for its customers.
Godwit assumes as a mission the preservation of traditional knowledge and practices - increasingly threatened by consumerism, mass design and commercial logic of volume and low cost - through the creation of unique pieces that embody the best and most beautiful in tradition, joining the best raw materials, the art of manual embroidery and a unique and timeless design.
