The dos Santos project started in 2010 when dos Santos family decided to revitalize and rebuild the old family Estate in the Region of Vila Mea~, Amarante, Portugal, deep in the Terroir of the Vinho Verde.

Wine, a long-time passion of the family, was the solution for the terroir that was abandoned for over 40 years. Conditions were laid for the development of a serious, long-term, project that aimed at the production of exceptional quality wines in the Amarante sub-region of the larger Vinhos Verdes DOC region.

Simultaneously, dos Santos extended the project to wine-tourism, with the clear goal to enhance the material and immaterial heritage of the region surrounding the vineyards. Paramount is the revitalization of the old Church of de Real, a national monument and part of the Portuguese Romanesque Route.
