Vinho Verde is unique in the world. Its a wine that is naturally light and fresh, produced in the Demarcated Wine Region of Vinho Verde in the Northwest corner of Portugal. This region with its geologic nature, and its Atlantic exposure shapes the wines with distinguished characteristics. The varietals used in its production are mainly native from the region and extremely well adapted to the environment. More than 90% of the wines produced here are white!
A vast amphitheater that, from the sea, gradually rises inland. Exposing the whole area to the influence of the Atlantic Ocean, a phenomenon reinforced by the orientation of the valleys of the main rivers, which run from source to west facilitate the penetration of the sea winds. The current Green Wine Demarcated Region extends throughout the northwestern part of the country. It borders the river Minho (border with Galicia), the north and south of the mountainous areas that constitute the natural separation between the Entre-Douro-e-Minho-Atlantic and the more interior areas of the country with more Mediterranean characteristics, and, finally, the Atlantic Ocean, which is its western limit.
