Studio Vanessa Barragão's unique art creations are the result of combining different techniques and materials.
The process, techniques and materials used are a very important point in the studio as they are the main foundation of this project.
The creation process is slow and it requires passion and dedication. It’s a very organic process, since the evolution of each artwork becomes natural and spontaneous varying with the creator's mood and feelings, generating an unpredictable and unknown result.
The techniques are based on ancestral textile practices like latch hook, crochet, felt, weaving, embroidery and macrame.
All the materials used come from waste, leftovers and deadstock of Portuguese factories mainly related to the textile industry. All the yarns are submitted to a cleaning and selection process before being used.
Studio Vanessa Barragão's internationalization strategy involves the dissemination of work in the foreign market, through magazines and online platforms, participation in fairs, export (whether by selling or renting) tapestries, justified by the high demand for the product abroad; prospecting for new collaborations and opportunities to exhibit in art galleries and museums.
We intend to reach interior design firms, architecture, art consultancy, high-end design (fashion or decoration) stores, art curators, creative agencies and private art collectors.
